Applying as a Freshman
Welcome to the Applying as a Freshman section of the Admissions website. Here you will find all the tools you need to complete your freshman application file. Be sure to check out the Virtual Room Tour and the Visit sections of this site as well. We hope to see you at Virginia Tech soon!
Before beginning the application process, take a look at the brief overview below of how to apply and what to expect.
Step By Step
- Apply online
(Virginia Tech expects all applicants to apply using the online application unless you are using an official fee-waiver. Students who will be using an official fee-waiver must apply using the paper application, and attach the fee-waiver to it upon submission.) - Submit all supporting documentation by the application deadline. (See the Application Checklist.) Applications that are incomplete at the deadline will be canceled.
- Arrange to have your final transcript sent to us no later than June 30.
What to Expect
Within 24 hours of Virginia Tech’s receipt of your application you should receive a verification e-mail confirming your personal information.
Within two weeks of Virginia Tech’s receipt of your application you should receive:
- Your Virginia Tech Application ID number (different from your application transaction number)
- Your PIN to access the online application status page (with your Virginia Tech Application ID number)
