Welcome to the Applying as a Freshman section of the Admissions website. Here you will find all the tools you need to complete your freshman application file. We hope to see you at Virginia Tech soon!

Before beginning the application process, take a look at the brief overview below of how to apply and what to expect.

Step By Step

1. Apply online
   (Virginia Tech expects all applicants to apply using the online application unless you are using an official fee-waiver. Students who will be using an official fee-waiver must apply using the paper application, and attach the fee-waiver to it upon submission.)
2. Submit all supporting documentation by the application deadline. (See the Application Checklist.) Applications that are incomplete at the deadline will be canceled.
3. Arrange to have your final transcript sent to us as soon as possible, by the deadline noted on the Final Requirements (PDF 187KB).

What to Expect

Look for an email verification confirming your personal information from Virginia Tech within the next business day.

Within two weeks of Virginia Tech’s receipt of your application you should receive:

1. An email with the subject "Virginia Tech Application Status Page" from admiss@vt.edu
   
2. An email with the subject "Virginia Tech Guest Account Invitation". Please follow the instructions to create your guest account. You must have this guest account to access the application status page.

NOTE: Once you click on the link in the email, you will have 48 hours to create your Guest Account.
