Applying as a Freshman

What's Next?

April

Students who have accepted an offer of admission to start in the summer at Virginia Tech, contact your department about registering for summer classes. Students starting in the fall will register for classes during Orientation.
Students who have accepted their offer of admission should register for Orientation through Hokie SPA.

May

Students who have accepted an offer of admission to start 2nd summer session at Virginia Tech should contact their academic departments about registering for summer classes.
Make dining plan selection online. See information that came with the offer letter for details.
Computer Requirement available online by May 1.

June

Immunization History form must be submitted before starting classes.

July

Register for classes while attending Orientation.
Look for Fall tuition bill notification (mid-July).
Roommate and housing information will be posted on Hokie SPA at the end of July.

August

Meet deadline for Fall tuition payment.
Move-in starts four to five days before classes begin. International students, athletes, and band members may be involved with early move-in dates. (Look for more information from the Division of Student Affairs)
Classes begin August 27.

Hokie Focus

If you still have questions about Virginia Tech, plan on attending Hokie Focus, an event for students offered admission and their families.

Important

Your offer of admission will be withdrawn under the following circumstances:

Your final grades are significantly lower than your previous academic record, indicating a declining academic performance in your final year or semester.
Your final transcript(s) reveals that you have failed to complete the university’s minimum requirements for admission.
Your final transcript(s) is not received by the undergraduate admissions office as directed above.

Matriculation Deposit Refund Policy

Regular Decision applicants who wish to withdraw their application may be eligible for a matriculation deposit refund. To request a refund of your $400 matriculation deposit, you must mail a written request to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, postmarked no later than May 1, 2012. Requests postmarked after May 1, 2012 will not be granted.
