Applying as an International Student

Step By Step
- Apply online
(Virginia Tech expects all applicants to apply using the online application unless you are using an official fee-waiver. Students who will be using an official fee-waiver must apply using the paper application, and attach the fee-waiver to it upon submission.) - Submit all supporting documentation by the application deadline. (See the Application Checklist.) Applications that are incomplete at the deadline will be canceled.
- Arrange to have your final transcript sent to us no later than the deadline stated in the offer letter.
What to Expect
Within two business days of Virginia Tech's receipt of your application you should receive a verification e-mail confirming your personal information.
Within two weeks of Virginia Tech's receipt of your application you should receive:
- An email with the subject "Virginia Tech Guest Account Invitation". Please follow the instructions to create your guest account. You must have this guest account to access the application status page.
NOTE: You will have 48 hours to create your Guest Account. If the 48 hour period expires before you create your account, you will receive another e-mailed invitation automatically. If more than three 48-hour invitations expire and you still have not created your Guest Account, you will need to send an e-mail to admiss@vt.edu to request another invitation.
- An email with the subject "Virginia Tech Status Page" from admiss@vt.edu
