An international student who requires an I-20 immigration form must be able to provide current financial certification showing they have the necessary funds to finance the costs associated with his or her education for one year before the I-20 can be issued by the university. The student will need the I-20 form for their F-1 student visa interview.
International students who plan to join Virginia Tech as bilateral exchange students must show at least $6,000 USD for each semester they wish to study at our school before the required DS-2019 form can be issued by the university. The student will need the DS-2019 form for their J-1 student visa interview.
The following is a list of estimated expenses you can expect to incur as an undergraduate at Virginia Tech during the 2011-2012 school year (nine months, or two semesters, in length). These are expenses for a single student (you should add $4,000 for a spouse and $1,500 for each dependent child).
