Applying as a Non-Degree-Seeking Student

Virginia Tech provides opportunities for individuals who are not seeking a degree from the university, but who wish to continue their education by taking courses at Virginia Tech for college credit. Non-degree students, or students who are not pursuing a degree at this time, include: highly qualified high school students, students enrolled at other colleges or universities, university faculty/staff, members of the community, senior citizens, or college graduates who wish to take undergraduate-level courses. Please note, due to U.S. Visa requirements, you must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to apply as a non-degree-seeking student.

Before beginning the application process, take a look at the brief overview below of how to apply and what to expect.

Step By Step

  1. Apply
  2. Submit all supporting documentation by the application deadline. (See the Application Checklist.) Applications that are incomplete at the deadline will be canceled.

  1. An e-mail from admiss@vt.edu when your application has been received (please add admiss@vt.edu to your list of approved senders)
