Applying as a Non-Degree-Seeking Student

Overview of the Application Process

The steps you will need to take to become a student at Virginia Tech are outlined below.

You should NOT apply as a non-degree seeking student if:

  • you are an international student
  • you have been denied admission as a freshman or transfer
  • you wish to take introductory level courses or lab science
  • you will require financial aid if you are admitted to Virginia Tech

What is a Non-Degree Student?

Virginia Tech provides opportunities for individuals who are not seeking a degree from the university, but who wish to continue their education by taking courses at Virginia Tech for college credit. Non-degree students, or students who do not intend to pursue a Virginia Tech degree, include:highly qualified high school students, students enrolled at other colleges or universities, university faculty/staff, members of the community, senior citizens, or college graduates who wish to take undergraduate-level courses.
