Returning Virginia Tech Students

If you have attended Virginia Tech in the past, do not re-apply through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Formerly enrolled students who have greater than a 2.0 GPA may seek readmission via the web course request form if they are eligible to return. Students returning from academic suspension or those students that did not leave the university in good standing should consult their academic dean's office for readmission procedures. (These procedures vary from college to college within the university.)

Formerly enrolled students in good academic standing who resign for personal reasons, do not continue enrollment at Virginia Tech, and later complete course work at another college or university are required to submit transfer transcripts to their academic dean prior to or during their first term of re-enrollment.

Students who wish to re-enter in a different major must contact their former academic department to be readmitted into the major they were in when they left Virginia Tech and then complete an internal transfer to the new major. If you attended Virginia Tech prior to 1989, you must contact the registrar’s office to be reinstated. The Office of the University Registrar can be reached for questions or readmission requests at 540/231-6252 or registrar@vt.edu.
