Undergraduate Admissions Home

Selecting a Major

Transfer applicants must select a specific major. Transfer students may not request the majors of Business (undecided), Life Sciences (undecided), or University Studies. The competition for admission varies from program to program and from year to year. Applicants interested in a double major should indicate only one of the majors on the application form; arrangements for double majors and minors are administered by the appropriate academic colleges after enrollment.

Students who wish to change their major after submitting an application should make a written request to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Once a student has enrolled, changes of major are administered by the appropriate academic colleges. The university understands the need for flexibility and tries to accommodate major changes both before and after enrollment. However, students should be aware that there are several majors in the university that are in high demand or have special entrance requirements and cannot accommodate all who wish to enter. In recent years, programs in engineering, architecture, and business have been the most selective.
