Spring applications are accepted on a space-available basis only. As a general guideline, we do not encourage you to apply if classes that will help you toward your degree are available at your current college or university.

You should not apply if:

• You are in your first semester of college. You must have completed at least two full semesters of classes before transferring to Virginia Tech.
• You are interested in one of the following majors, which are unavailable for spring registration. Please apply for the first summer session instead.
  • Architecture
  • Industrial Design
  • Interior Design
  • Landscape Architecture

You should apply if:

• You are graduating from a community college in December with an Associate's degree.
• You have a significant number of earned hours from another college or university.

How to Apply

Submit a packet containing the following by October 1 to Virginia Tech, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, 201 Burruss Hall, Blacksburg, VA 24061:

1. A paper application.
2. A cover letter explaining why you should begin in the spring and why you are unable to continue at your current institution
3. Official or unofficial copies of your transcripts
4. The non-refundable application fee of $50. Include a check or money order payable to Treasurer of Virginia Tech.

What to Expect

One of the following actions will be taken on your application.

• If you are graduating in December with an Associate's degree from a community college, or if you have a significant number of earned hours from another college or university, your application will be reviewed for any available spaces for spring semester. You will be notified by November 15 of an admissions decision.
• If there is no space for spring and it appears your application may be competitive for a future term, we will roll your application to the fall semester, notify you of this action, and review your application in March for fall admission.
• If your application credentials are not competitive for admission, your application will be denied. You will be notified in writing by November 15.
