International Students

International applicants must show adequacy of funds for the entire first year and evidence of sufficient funds to complete your education before they can qualify for the appropriate visa at the nearest US Consulate. Although US Immigration Service regulations now permit summer and part-time work off-campus for international students, such employment is difficult to obtain in this area.

Additional Expenses

Costs for books and supplies vary, but are estimated at about $900 per year. This figure does not include personal expenses for computers, travel, entertainment, or other items that vary with an individual’s lifestyle.

Financial Aid Estimator

Financial Aid’s Estimator can help you plan for the cost of attending Virginia Tech.

Computer Requirement

Students can participate in the Computer Requirement Program established by the university or they may elect to buy a computer on their own. Regardless, it is best to wait and purchase a machine close to the time of enrollment to acquire the latest technology at the best price.

Students offered admission to Virginia Tech will receive information concerning model requirements, purchase options, and financial aid possibilities in late spring.
