Please note, Virginia Tech’s Management Science program is referred to as Business Information Technology. If you are interested in studying Management Science, you should select Business Information Technology (BIT) when completing the application.
Students of business information technology learn how to apply quantitative techniques and models using computer information technology to solve managerial problems, as well as a logical and scientific approach to managerial decision-making. There are two options within the department — computer-based decision support systems and operations management.
Option I, computer-based decision support systems, educates students in the design, implementation, and use of computerized information technology systems to solve business problems.
Option II, operations management, educates students in the management, planning and control of operational systems and supply chains in organizations and businesses.
Business Information Technology is a part of the Pamplin College of Business. Majors in this college may share high school preparation requirements as well as common coursework at Virginia Tech.
