College of Natural Resources & Environment

Wildlife Science

Wildlife science focuses on the study, conservation, and use of primarily terrestrial wild animals and ecosystems. This program provides a comprehensive understanding of animal biology (birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians), habitats, and human uses and values of wildlife, and has strengths in non-game, endangered, and game species management, biodiversity, and human-wildlife interactions.

Job opportunities exist with physiology/ecotoxicology laboratories, state and federal natural resources management agencies, conservation groups, forest-related industries, and private consulting companies. Although some positions are open to B.S. graduates, an advanced degree is recommended for careers in wildlife science.
