Philosophy

The philosophy program covers all areas of the discipline including logic, ethics, metaphysics, epistemology, aesthetics, philosophy of religion, philosophy of science, and social and political philosophy.

Philosophy courses cultivate students' skills in analysis, critical understanding, rigorous evaluation, and articulate expression of ideas.

The department encourages students to pursue a double major. The structure of the curriculum enables students to complete a double major in four years.

College of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences

Philosophy is a part of the College of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences. Majors in this college may share high school preparation requirements as well as common coursework at Virginia Tech.
