Notification of Admission: Honors Eligible & Regular Decision
| Early Decision | December 15 |
| Honors Eligible | February 22 |
| Regular Decision | April 1 |
We wanted to provide you some information about how decisions for regular decision applicants will be communicated this year, as well as some helpful hints regarding financial aid and scholarships at Virginia Tech.
As you are no doubt already aware, the single-notification date at Virginia Tech for regular decision freshman admission has traditionally been April 1. Again this year, most applicants will be notified in a mailing sent in time to arrive on April 1.
Early notification of admissions offers was sent on February 22 to those students who are admissible and statistically eligible to apply to University Honors and whose applications were completed and evaluated prior to this date.
Students eligible to apply to University Honors have GPAs of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale and combined SAT critical reading and math scores of 1400 (with a minimum score of 620 critical reading, 600 math) or at least a 3.70 on a 4.00 scale with a combined SAT of 1300 (minimum 620 critical reading, 600 math).
If you are not one of the honors-eligible applicants to find out your decision in the early mailing, your application is still under review by the Admissions Committee and you will have your decision by April 1. The early notification offers represent only about 20 percent of total offers of admission that will be made this year.
Remember: Students who are not honors-eligible, or whose files were not completed until after the honors offers went to committee, are still under consideration for regular decision admission.
