Show Me The Money!

March 11 marks the priority deadline for both Virginia Tech’s General Scholarship Application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We offer four types of financial aid to you and each begins with the FAFSA.

Types of Financial Aid:

Applicants who complete the FAFSA by March 11 and are offered admission will be able to view their financial aid results online by April 4. Applicants who do not complete the FAFSA by March 11 will not be eligible for maximum aid opportunities.

More than 70 percent of all students at Virginia Tech receive some sort of financial aid, including academic scholarships. To estimate your financial aid award eligibility and your cost of attendance, use the financial aid estimator.

Even if you don't think you are a candidate for financial aid, you should complete both the FAFSA and the General Scholarship Application by March 11. To apply for scholarships, financial aid, or to learn more, visit the Office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Corps of Cadets Scholarships

Members of Virginia Tech's Cadet Corps Regimental Band, the Highty-Tighties, qualify for a $1000 Scholarship. In addition, they are eligible for the Cadet Emerging Leader Scholarship of $12,000 as an out of state student and $8,000 as an in state student.

The Highty-Tighties grew out of Virginia Tech's Corps of Cadets on the Blacksburg campus in 1893. Since then, their record of excellence has continued to grow and they have performed for special events and parades around the country.

Enrollment requires membership in the Corps of Cadets but does not require enrollment in ROTC program; therefore, there is no military obligation. To change to cadet status to be eligible for the Highty-Tighties, contact Gary Jackson.
