October Transfer Hokie News
We were happy to learn of your interest in Virginia Tech. As we prepare for the upcoming application deadlines for Fall 2010 transfer admission, we thought you might find the following list of tips helpful.
- Start your application today.
Application Tips
- It's important that you read the application instructions. Please note that you will receive three e-mails once you submit your application. The first will be a verification e-mail; the second a Virginia Tech Guest Account Invitation e-mail; and the third a Virginia Tech Status Page e-mail. You will have 48 hours to respond to the guest account e-mail and complete your account setup. Please be on the lookout for these e-mails, follow the guest account instructions, and read and save the status page information.
- If you are interested in maximum scholarship opportunities (as well as federal financial aid options), you must complete the FAFSA by the priority deadline of March 1 and send your information to Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech is listed as Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and the school code is 003754. (The FAFSA will be available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov on January 1.)
- While we don't require an essay, you have the option of responding to up to three of the seven optional personal statements on the application. (Respond to one, two, three, or none. It is truly your choice.) Believe it or not, we actually read each one of them! Please know that we don't focus on your writing or grammatical skills while reading the statements (though reasonable grammar and structure is expected). Instead, we read the statements for information that we would not be able to obtain through your transcripts or standardized test score. If there is something more you want to tell us about yourself and what you could bring to Virginia Tech, this is the place to do so.
- Virginia Tech's primary method of communication is e-mail. You should provide a valid e-mail address and check it often, as there are many instances when we need to communicate with you during the application review period.
- Students who are Virginia residents must complete and submit the Virginia In-State Tuition form in order to qualify for in-state tuition rates.
